5K Warm Up Event with Hoka

I am back home from the 5K warm-up event organised with HOKA in partnership with the London Winter Run, and Cancer Research UK.

This is my first time joining this event. The energy was high, and everyone was super friendly. I managed to stay at the front of the pack during the whole circuit. It is time to rest and recover.

The run started in Covent Garden at the HOKA shop. The pack run towards the Thames passing by The London Eye and the Big Ben. We ran alongside St James Park reaching Buckingham Palace. We saw the King in a car scored by the police while we waited for the traffic light to change. Once we reached Trafalgar Square -the starting line for the London Winter Run, we ran in an eight shape through the fountains. The last section of the run passed by Strand on the way back to Covent Garden.

Thank you so much for reading my running update. If you have not run for a charity, I encourage you to give it a go. It is a great experience.

All the best!

Last week of training

I have enjoyed every bit of my running training. I feel my legs are stronger and ready to run on Sunday. I will be running for the second time for Cancer Research UK. This has been the first time raising funds for the charity.

The experience of raising funds for the charity has been very positive. I decided to focus my fundraising efforts on Instagram. I  shared my running progress with my friends and family. The happiest person was my mum. She has enjoyed watching my videos.

My fundraising efforts have amounted to over £100 I see as a collective effort. I appreciate greatly every single donation. it is great to see people making some time to watch my videos, stop and make a donation. I am grateful and I send a massive thank you to everyone who has donated.

Raising funds for Cancer Research UK educated me on the importance of supporting the fight against cancer. I discovered there are many types of cancer. Cancer Research UK studies over 200 types.

I invite you to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, or any charity of your choice. Do it at the beginning of the year. it is a great time to do fitness, and stay focused on your personal goals.

If you want to know about my fundraising experience, you can connect with me on my Instagram account @wladreports. Drop me a message. I will be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Two weeks left

I feel prepared to run 10K on the 23rd of February. I hope for a sunny sky on the day. I invited my sister as a spectator on the day, so I could share a moment of joy with her. I will see my friend Albert and Orla who are also training for the London Winter Run.

The running training has been intense. I have trained 4-5 times a week. I felt the need to protect my sleeping, eating and social battery. I have avoided crowds as much as possible. I want to protect my immune system and avoid unnecessary illnesses.

This week I run 9K at a conversational pace - this is week 6/8. In the next two weeks, my running sessions will be shorter. I have to allow my legs to refresh and rest before the big day.

I am having a great time, but I also understand this is a big commitment and requires a lot of mental strength. I am busy looking for a master. My time, energy and resources are split into work, running training, looking for masters and self-care.

Your donation helps me to stay motivated. You can check my running updates in a video format on my Instagram profile @wladreports

Four Weeks of Training

Image caption: Trying different pair of shoes at Runnerneed shop.

I am halfway through my running training. It means the 10k race organised by Cancer Research UK will take place very soon. I am training my legs with the Runna App. The Runna App has been perfect for managing my time. They offer a selection of exercises which are easy to follow. I do not require previous training or knowledge. I go to the gym, open the Runna App and follow the instructions. The App shows the name of the exercise, it specifies the number of repetitions, and it includes a timer. The best feature is the attached Youtube videos that demonstrate how to do an exercise.

I have a knee discomfort sensation that forces me to take seriously strengthening training. I want to avoid unnecessary injuries.

I also visited the Runnersneed shop. They did a running test that evaluated my gait, and it suggested a suitable pair of running shoes. I also passed by Decatlhon to buy new running clothes suitable for cold weather. I am confident that I have the necessary running gear to achieve my running goals on the day of the  10K race.

It is my first time raising money for a charity. I would appreciate your support in the form of a donation.

First Week of Training

I have decided to create an eight-week training plan to achieve my goal by February. I am running 10K at the London Winter Run organised by Cancer Research UK.

I have subscribed to the running plan for the Runna App. This app complements running training with strengthening workouts. I have experience running and know that stretching and strengthening the whole body is vital.

I will run a maximum of four times each week. I will commit to getting eight hours of sleep, eating a good diet, and documenting my journey on social media.
