Rachel’s Angels are fundraising to beat cancer
It’se now 11 years since Rachel was first diagnosed with Cancer.
As you can imagine, the journey has had its ups and downs; there have been some very difficult times along the way and only this year her cancer came back requiring yet another operation, leaving a rather glorious looking scar on her neck.
They also found out that she carries the BRCA2 gene meaning there is yet more surgery to come.
While her family has had to learn to live with worry as a close companion, their lives are filled with love and laughter and joy and silliness and they feel blessed to have so so many friends and a family who not only carry them during the darker times but are there to celebrate the good with them.
One of the very very many ways in which this love has been shown has been the annual London Winter Run. (Now in its 10th year). This event is a major fundraiser for Cancer Research.
Rachel’s Angels have taken part 5 times, raising tens of thousands of pounds and they are back again this year.
Rachel is here today because of the incredible work that has been carried out by research teams who are funded in large part by charitable donations.
Rachel’s story is not unique and all of Rachel’s Angels have been touched by cancer in varying degrees and will be running in support and in memory of loved ones. It will come as no surprise to you if we ask you to dig deep into your pockets.
