World Cancer Day

It has now 11 years since I was first diagnosed with Cancer. 

As you can imagine, the journey has had its ups and downs; there have been some very difficult times along the way and only this year my cancer came back requiring yet another operation, leaving a rather glorious looking scar on her neck. 

We also found out that i carries the BRCA2 gene meaning there is yet more surgery to come. 

While I have had to learn to live with worry as a close companion, my life is filled with love and laughter and joy and silliness and I feel blessed to have so so many friends and a family who not only carry  during the darker times but are there to celebrate the good with me. 

One of the very very many ways in which this love has been shown has been the annual London Winter Run. (Now in its 10th year). This event is a major fundraiser for Cancer Research. 

Rachel’s Angels have taken part 5 times, raising tens of thousands of pounds and they are back again this year. 

I am here today because of the incredible work that has been carried out by research teams who are funded in large part by charitable donations.

My story is not unique and all of Rachel’s Angels have been touched by cancer in varying degrees and will be running in support and in memory of loved ones.  It will come as no surprise to you if we ask you to dig deep into your pockets.
